Prior to commissioning and transportation, the weight and center of gravity (CG) of oil rig platforms must be precisely determined and documented as part of the build specifications.
Engineering Challenges
Weighing a 16,000-ton oil rig platform is a highly complex task. The platform must be uniformly lifted at 32 points until it is fully clear of temporary supports, with the load at each point recorded to calculate the total weight and center of gravity. To ensure accuracy, three separate weight readings are taken during three lifting operations, requiring synchronized and evenly distributed lifting heights at each point.
Our Solution
YIPU Hydraulic‘s Synchronous Weighing System is engineered to tackle intricate weighing tasks. It integrates a computer-controlled hydraulic synchronous lifting system with a precision weighing system utilizing strain gauge load cells. The lifting system ensures all lifting points are raised with an accuracy of up to 1 mm, guaranteeing uniform elevation for optimal weighing results.
Each lifting jack is equipped with a load cell matching its capacity, allowing direct weight measurement at each point. The data is logged during each lift, and the center of gravity is automatically calculated and displayed on the system interface once the coordinates of the lifting points are entered. A screenshot of the results can be captured with a single click for future reference.
System consisted
1. 16 jacks with 600-ton capacity, integrated with 600-ton load cells.
2. 16 jacks with 800-ton capacity, integrated with 800-ton load cells.
3. 2 hydraulic power packs (7.5 HP each).
4. 1 computer-controlled synchronous weighing controller
