Steel Structure weighting System For New Caledonia Nickel Mine

Project Overview :

A modular steel structure, constructed at a shipyard for the New Caledonia nickel mine, requires precise weighing and determination of its center of gravity with an accuracy of 0.5% before transportation by barge to the mine site.

Our Solution

The YIPU Hydraulic Weighing System is engineered for precision and operational simplicity in this application. It integrates up to 16 high-precision strain gauge load cells, positioned between the lifting jacks and the structure’s lifting points. Utilizing the YIPU SynLift system, the structure is raised above its supports, transferring its weight onto the load cells. The system automatically records data from each load cell and calculates the center of gravity with high accuracy.

The weighing data can be easily downloaded from the controller, and an automated report can be generated and printed when connected to a printer, streamlining documentation processes.

System consisted

1. 1 WISE weighing computer with data logging capabilities

2. 4 strain gauge load cells (200-tonne capacity, 0.5 class precision)

3. 1 YIPU SynLift system
